From Beatrix Potter to Ulysses ... what the top writers say every child should read

I only read The Wasteland when I was in university, and I'm still trying to understand it, 3 years down the road...kids these days must be a lot smarter.

My reading tastes as a kid were a lot less complex. My favourite books were by Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton, like everyone else. I also loved The Chronicles of Narnia and the Encyclopedia Brown series. When I have the time, I must re-read them again.
